GRIHA Evaluators

The GRIHA Evaluators are subject matter experts and professionals who evaluate the assigned projects after qualifying the GRIHA Examination. GRIHA Council reaches out to these professionals to evaluate criteria according to their expertise. There are 6 categories of evaluators according to the GRIHA Version 2015:

  1. Architect : Criteria number 1, 2, 13, 21, 25 and 26 are given for evaluation to this category
  2. Energy analyst : Criteria number 8, 9, 10 ,11, 12 and 28  are given for evaluation to this category
  3. Plumbing consultant : Criteria number 14, 16, 17 and 18 are given for evaluation to this category
  4. Construction Manager :  Criteria number 5, 7, 22 and 24 are given for evaluation to this category
  5.  Landscape Architect : Criteria number 3, 4, 6  and 15 are given for evaluation to this category
  6. Civil Engineer : Criteria number 19, 20 and 23 are given for evaluation to this category

Any professional can choose to become an evaluator in one or more categories by attending the respective modules.

Eligibility Criteria: A Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering with minimum 3 years of work experience is required for becoming GRIHA Evaluator. Diploma holders with minimum 6 years of work experience are eligible for becoming GRIHA Evaluator.

How to become a GRIHA Evaluator: 

The first step towards becoming a GRIHA Evaluator is attending the 3 Day training Program. GRIHA Council organizes 3 day training programs, once a month in various cities in the country. The program aims at enhancing the knowledge on green buildings and GRIHA rating parameters for building professionals like architects, engineers, developers, policy makers and others. The faculty for the training programme is professionals from GRIHA Council as well as experts working in the field of sustainability.

Interested professional may also submit an expression of interest for the training to be organized in any particular city.  If in future a training program is proposed in the mentioned city then GRIHA Council sends a notification to the concerned person. Click Here for expressing interest

After attending the 3 Day Training Program, you may choose to attend the GRIHA e-learning modules for evaluators.

Examination Process:

After successfully completing the e-learning module, you can appear in the examination. The Evaluator examination is held on a quarterly basis at selected examination centres (Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore) and has limited seats, which are reserved on first come first serve basis. You are advised to select a module, examination date and examination centre in the registration form.

Syllabus and study material: Presentations shared in the 3 Day training Program and GRIHA Version 2015 is the basic course material to understand the compliance requirements of the criteria.  

Exam structure:

  • The question paper will be of 100 marks (objective: 20 marks and subjective: 80 marks). The objective questions will test the ability to write grammatically correct and cohesive comments; knowledge of evaluation process; and criteria. The subjective questions will test the evaluation abilities based on provided documentation.
  • The examination duration will be two hours.
  • The passing marks will 75.
  • Print copy of the question paper will be provided to the candidates. The answer sheet will be provided in soft copy and answers will have to be typed in. Soft copy of GRIHA Version 2015 manual will also be provided for reference.

Examination fee: : The e-learning module fees is 5000/- for each module. This includes one attempt in the evaluator examination. A discount of 25% will be provided for every subsequent module, if the participant chooses to take more than 2 modules. Please write to info@grihaindia.org to avail the discount.
