GRIHA Certified Professional

The GRIHA Certified Professionals or GRIHA CP are a cadre of professional from diverse fields, who are equipped with the knowledge of the GRIHA rating system .

*Disclaimer: The coursework entails technical content specific to building construction and building physics. It is recommended for the candidate to be well versed with fundamental science and building construction.

How to become a GRIHA Certified Professional:

The first step to becoming a GRIHA Certified Professional is attending the 3 Day training Program. GRIHA Council organizes 3 day training programs, once a month in various cities in the country. The program aims at enhancing the knowledge on green buildings and GRIHA rating parameters for building professionals like architects, engineers, developers, policy makers and others. The faculty for the training programme is professionals from GRIHA Council as well as experts working in the field of sustainability.

Interested professional may also submit an expression of interest for the training to be organized in any particular cities.  If in future a training program is proposed in the mentioned city then GRIHA Council sends a notification to the concerned person. Click Here for expressing interest

After attending the 3 Day Training Program, you may choose to appear for the GRIHA Certified Professional Examination.

Examination Process:  After attending the program, a User ID and password is shared with all participants enabling access to this portal.  The examination is held once a month. It’s an online examination which you can give from your home/office.

Syllabus and study material: The GRIHA Certified Professional Exam is based on GRIHA Version 2105. Candidates may refer to the GRIHA V2015 abridged manual available at http://www.grihaindia.org/files/GRIHA_V2015_May2016.pdf and the presentations given during the training program to prepare for the exam.

Exam structure:

  1. The GRIHA CP examination has 60 questions.
  2.  Maximum marks are 100.
  3.  The exam duration is 75 minutes.  
  4.  The passing marks to become a GRIHA Certified Professional are 75.
  5.  There is NO negative marking
  6.  Full marks for questions will be given only when the following conditions are met:
    1. Single Choice Questions: Marks will be given only when the candidate selects the correct option and only 1 option. If more than 1 option is selected, the question will automatically be marked zero.
    2. Multiple Choice Questions: Full marks (2 or 3) will be given only when the candidate selects all right answers. If the candidate selects less/more options than correct options or if even one of the selected options is incorrect, the question will be marked zero.
  7.  There are 3 sections in the question paper:

    1. Section 1: Single/Multiple Choice Questions (40 Questions). The candidate will have to assess for each question whether it will have 1/2/3 correct options and mark accordingly.
    2. Section 2: True and False (10 Questions)
    3. Section 3: Calculations (10 Questions)

Examination fee: Rs.1000/-  per attempt.

Validity :

The Validity period is 2 years. The validity guidelines are under development.

GRIHA Council will inform the participants whether they have ‘qualified’ or ‘not qualified’ as GRIHA Certified Professional. However the marks attained shall not be disclosed to the participants.
Decision of GRIHA Council on evaluation of the examination shall be deemed final.

PLEASE NOTE: In case the candidate is unable to complete the examination due to any technical constraints such as poor internet speed/ connectivity, electrical black out or technical issues; the candidate will have to do a fresh registration for the examination on a subsequent date. GRIHA Council will not be held liable for any technical fault and will not reimburse the fees. In case the internet connectivity breaks, the candidates can login again and continue the exam. However, do remember that extra time in lieu of the time lost due to connectivity concerns will not be given.
